Revd. David Youngson

David Thoms Youngson is a native of Dundee and has lived in the North East of England since 1947.
Served as an Apprentice Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy 1953-5 but had to give this up after failing an eye test. Served in the Royal Air Force 1956-1958 as a National Serviceman - Corporal in the Medical Branch.
Had a successful business career prior to entering the Church. Trained for the ministry at Cuddesdon Theological College Oxford and Ordained in 1972 as an Anglican priest who never retire!.

In 1990, founded and became Director of Signpost North East delivering advice, information and counselling to people with a visual impairment throughout the north east of England. The success of this venture led to Signpost North East being merged with Action for Blind People in 2001 in order to further develop the work.

He was appointed to the General Optical Council in 2002. David suffers with retinitis pigmentosa and has been registered blind and a guide dog owner since 1987.

David as founder and secretary of the Rothay Consultancy continues to provide information to the visually impaired by producing a monthly information tape to over 400 people.

A keen follower of sport, lover of classical music and an authority on the British postal system.He is also researching his family roots in Kincardineshire and Forfarshire, having reached the late 18th Century and still working on it.
Other interest include the First World War.
